An 8-day easy rider motorbike tour from Bangkok to Chiang Khong at the Laos border covers approximately 1,000–1,200 km, taking you from the central plains into the technical mountain passes of Northern Thailand. While many "Easy Rider" tours operate out of Chiang Mai, a custom or guided journey from Bangkok allows you to see the transition of Thai landscapes and cultures.
Day 1: Bangkok to Nakhon Sawan (approx. 240 km) ( L )
7:30 AM pick you up from your hotel in Bangkok . Exit the city early to avoid heavy traffic.
Stop in Ayutthaya for a quick temple visit before heading north to Nakhon Sawan, the "Gate to the North" where the Ping and Nan rivers meet.
Day 2: Nakhon Sawan to Sukhothai (approx. 180 km) ( B, L )
Ride through flat central plains.
Spend the afternoon exploring the Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Day 3: Sukhothai to Phrae (approx. 170 km) ( B, L )
The terrain begins to change from flatlands to rolling hills.
Visit the beautiful teak houses and temples like Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkhon Khiri in Phrae.
Day 4: Phrae to Nan (approx. 120 km) ( B, L )
A shorter ride through scenic rural roads to Nan, a quiet town known for its unique art and culture.
Day 5: Nan to Bo Kluea (R1081) (approx. 110 km) ( B , L )
Ride the famous "Sky Road" (Route 1081), often cited as one of the most beautiful motorcycle roads in the world.
Visit the ancient salt mines in Bo Kluea.
Day 6: Bo Kluea to Phu Chi Fa (approx. 200 km) (B , L )
Head north via Route 1148, a legendary technical road with endless curves favored by riders.
Overnight at Phu Chi Fa to catch the sunrise over the sea of mist at the border.
Day 7: Phu Chi Fa to Chiang Khong (approx. 85 km) ( B, L )
A stunning descent through mountain ridges and local villages.
Arrive at Chiang Khong on the banks of the Mekong River, overlooking Laos.
Day 8: Chiang Khong - Border Day ( B )
Explore the river walk and prepare for the border crossing.
Cross the Fourth Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge to Huay Xai, Laos, for the slow boat to Luang Prabang or further northern exploration ( Better by boat or by land to Nateuay rail way station then take to trian to Luangprabang.
