Thailand Cycle To Laos and Cambodia - 41 Days trip start from Bangkok the capital of Thailand to LuangPrabang - Vientiane - Paske the world heritage town.the Crazy traffic in Bangkok don’t allow us the cycling so we transfer to Ayutthaya to avoid the busy traffic. Cycling and visiting Ayutthaya Historical Temples, the Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park and especially Sukho Thai (the ancient kingdom of Thai people from 1238-1438 )and the largest city in northern Thailand, to Golden Triangle toward Chiang Khong , enjoy exotic landscapes, stunning sugar cain and rubber tree plantation. the riders have great opportunity in exploring breathtaking scenery in North of Thailand to Laos and finish the tour in beautiful Angkor temple in Siem Reap .

DAY 1: BANGKOK – ARRIVAL

Pick up at the airport and transfer to hotel for check in - 18:30 group meeting at the hotel lobby ( So you can arrival a day before and adding cost )

DAY 2: BANGKOK – AYUTHAYA –UTHAI THANI

8:00 AM Pick up from your hotel so after  breakfast and check out we have to transfer 1 hour and half or two hours to avoid the busy part of Bangkok city to Ayuthaya,It was the capital for 417 years from 1351 until it was sacked by the Burmese in 1767 ,We will start the cycling trip after taking a short time to visit the historical temple to Uthai Thani along the backroad with less traffic . We will have a chance to climb  the Sakae Krong hill for the sunset view over the town and visit the hill top temple ( if we still have time.) when we reach there. Dinner and overnight in Uthai Thani.

DAY 3 : UTHAI THANI-  KAM PHAENG PHET

The easy day will start  with the cycling from the peaceful and quiet resort hidden near the town center crossing a small bridge to the other side of the river follow Sakae Krang River to Chao Praya river continue cycling along the river on the country road is best ride to enjoy seeing the REAL Thailand, the countryside, the villages. We stop for lunch in Nakhon Sawan at the restaurant on the riverside overlooking the intersection of Ping and Nan river (to become Chao Praya River). After we done 80 cycling we get on the van and transfer on the highway 1 to Kamphaeng Phet. Overnight at the Riverside Resort overlooking Ping River.

DAY 4: KAM PHAENG PHET- SUKHON THAI

After the breakfast at the hotel the bike will be ready and waiting for you in front of the resort .We cycle to Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park it is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Historic Town of Sukhothai and Associated Historic Towns, from the hotel. We will spend around 1 hours  to discover the temples, then cycling to  lunch . After that we  keep cycling on quiet countryside road along Ramkhampaeng National Park. We reach  Sukho Thai, founded in 1,238AD was the capital of Thai empire for 140 years before moving to Ayuthaya. And before we cycle to the hotel we will spend time to  Visit the temples in SukhoThai Historical Park .Overnight in SukhoThai.

DAY 5: SUKHOTHAI- CHAING MAI

From the hotel We cycle through one of the best scenery in the rural of Thailand. The scenery keep changing through the sugar cane farm, the villages, the rice field and the mountain view. Today we have packed lunch as there is no local restaurant in this remote area. After lunch we stransfer to Chaing Mai, The largest city in northern Thailand.Overnight in Chaing Mai

DAY 7: CHIANG MAI- CHIANG DAO

After breakfast we will pick up in the morning  and we will do a short transfer out of city and. We cycle along the singletrack through a scenic teak forest to our lunch spot at refreshing water fall. After lunck we continue to cycle along nice country road and the elephant road to our resort in Chiang Dao. Overnight in Chaing Dao.

DAY 8 : CHIANG DAO- CHAI PRAKAN

Breakfast at the hotel. We start cycling from our resort to Chiang Dao cave and temple retreat. After that we continue to cycle Chai Prakan . Today ride is real challenge for mountain biker as we climb some outstanding mountain cut by the local  hill tribes .we ride dirt road through rice fields . Along the way we will meet Akha,Lisu,Palaung people .the colorful for Palaung are recent migrants and we will see their women adorned with the heavy brass waistband working in the fields. Overnight in the hotel in Chai Prakan.

DAY 9: CHAI PRAKAN -MALIKA

The easy will start after the breakfast at the hotel and we will start our journey . Today ‘s ride is flat compare with next few day. We will ride along back road though the village  where the farmer working in their rice paddies and orchards. Reach Fang for our lunch. In the afternoon we continue to riding through the village to Malika.overnight in Malika.

DAY 10 : MALIKA – CHIANG RAI

Breakfast at the hotel. A short transfer from our resort along the main road to the back road and we will start cycling from there .we cycle the remote countryside  along Kok river ,cycle thought the  small village and a wide variety of crop. Our day will finish at the Wat Rum khun ,Thailand white temple, which is likely  the most unique temple in the country. Take a short time to visit and the transfer by the van to our hotel in Chiang Rai. Free and leisure . we hightly recommend you to pampering yourself  with the wonderful Thai massage at the night market in the evening.

DAY 11 : CHIANG RAI-CHIANG KHONG

Breakfast at the hotel. We will cycle along  undulating with some flat section passing Rubber plantation , the rice paddies where the water buffalo plow through the field or sowing seed into the earth by farmer. We will finish our cycling day at the ancient  temple in Chaing Saon ,south of golden triangle ,jump on the van and transfer to lodge lodge in the middle of H’MONG village with the spectacular view of the pristine valley. Free to relax or wander through village to experience the local daily life  of the villagers in the community.

DAY 12: CHIANG KHONG- CROSING BODER – HUAYXAI

After breakfast , Another easy day will start with downhill from our lodge we will start to cycle along the Mekong river through the tropical Thailand countryside. We will finish at the border to Laos via the bridge .we have to Say Sawadee ‘goodbye’ Thailand and “Sabaidee “ Laos. We walk to our hotel at the border town .

DAY 13: HUAY XAI – PAKBENG

No riding today, after breakfast boarding on boat down the Mekong River, the longest river in Southeast Asia, the 7 longest in Asia and the 12 longest in the world, which flows from China along the Lao/Burma border, the Thai Lao border before turning east and running through the heart of Laos. The boatman prepares our lunch and we have in the boat. More relax today and see the countryside life style look out for water buffalo and villagers doing their laundry as well as hundreds of smiling children enjoying the river. Our journey takes around 8 – 9 hours. We finally arrive the small town call Pakbeng for overnight.

DAY 14 : PAKBENG – HONGSA

After breakfast we cycle from hotel, riding along the new road, this road was built in 2011 To Hongsa ,of one district of Sayaboury province  but the road is not very busy,after 12 km we will start the first  long climb in laos. lunch pack will be brought and prepared by our guide, we stop for lunch by the road under the tree or at the hut of local farm on the top of the mountain , after that along downhill  will be your award and last easy 30km to Hongsa  where we stay overnight.

DAY 15: HONGSA- SAYABOURY

After breakfast we cycle to Sayaboury .the hard day will start with flat section to warm up the muscle for the big climb.on the way we stop at the local villages observe their daily life, it is a non-touristic area, and strange for local people to see tourists are riding on bicycles for long distance but they are very friendly and we can stop for photo at the villages and talk to them. We stop for lunch by the road and transfer by van  to our destination ,Sayaboury , known as home of elephants in the past, it is non-touristic town in Laos

DAY 16 :SAYABOURY – LUANGPPRBANG

In the morning we will transfer by van from the hotel to Muangnan .and the cycling will start from there to LuangPrabang , the world heritage town. Today ride’s is gentle compare with previous days. we along the Mekong River from Muangnan, through the local and tribal villages along the Mekong River, to Kaung Si waterfall ,The falls begin in shallow pools atop a steep hillside. These lead to the main fall with a 60 metres drop.take short time to swim to cold down before have lunch  and continue to cycle to Luangprabang .

Day 18 : Luang Prabang to Kiew Ka Cham (78Km) ( B ,L,D )

Pick up at 7:30 from your hotel .After checking your bikes, depart from Luang Prabang cycle the way to Kiew Ka Cham passing on the mountain road passing lush forest and many small H’Mong villages that sit dwarfed by the amazing landscape of limestone mountains that surround them. Dinner and overnight in Kiew Ka Cham.

Day 19 : Kiew Ka Cham – Kasi (94 Km) ( B , L , D )

After breakfast, fill in water and be prepared to get on the bike. Today is the hard part of cycling with some up hills and down hills. So, we will start a,bit early. You will be high in the mountains for the first half of the day following a ridge line up and down with peaks all around. In the afternoon it is time to relax a bit as the road is largely downhill along a valley to our overnight stop of Kase, a small village on top of the mountains.

Day 20 : Kasi – Vang Vieng (57 Km) ( B , L , D )

Cycle the 57km to Vang Vieng hopefully arriving early afternoon, spend,afternoon to go caving or tubing on the Nam Song River or just relax. The,ride to Vang Vieng is a relatively easy day traveling through the lush greof rice fields. Vang Vieng is set in a prime location. Surrounded by,limestone peaks, caves and rivers this town see its fair share of travelers,but for good reason. Overnight in Vang Vieng.

Day 21 : Vang Vieng – Phong Hong (Nam Ngum Lake) 85km ( B , L , D )

Spend the day cycling mainly downhill to Phong Hong and to the Nam Ngum Lake,a man-made lake, formed by the damn. Dinner and spend the night near the lake.

Day 22 : Nam Ngum Lake – Vientiane 85km ( B , L )

Cycling start from your hotel to Vientiane the road becomes mainly flat for this ride and you should be back in Vientiane . Explore city and Dinner by your own . Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 23 : Vientiane city tour and Flight to Pakse ( B , L )

This morning explore city tour to visit some most interesting museum and pagodas before light lunch and transfer to airport for flight to Pakse . Arrival pick up and transfer to hotel for check in . Explore night Pakse by your own .

Day 24 : Pakse – Bolaven Plateau (Tad Fan waterfall) ( B , L , D )

An easy start to the day, after breakfast we ride from the hotel after 8 km on flat road in town the road is slightly up hill to begin our journey into coffee growing area of Laos, the Bolaven plateau. After town we start to climb up into the temperate coffee growing area renowned for its Arabica and Robusta beans. These beans fetch some of the highest coffee prices in the world. The road undulates but has a definite upward feeling. As we climb, we see coffee everywhere as the plantations converge on the side of the road. We finish at the wonderful Tad Fane resort, which provides a stunning backdrop and the very impressive Tad Fane fall, if you are feeling energetic you can cycle to the other waterfall for swimming. Alternatively, you can relax in the restaurant and take the wonderful view. Dinner is at the resort

Elevation: Pakse = 170 m above sea level,Tadfan resort = 959 m above sea level.,Distance: 38 km (on good quality asphalt road but ascend)

Day 25: Tad Fane – Tad lo (Tad means waterfall) ( B , L , D )(Resort is at an altitude of 960 m above sea level)

Today is the best riding in this trip, after 12 km of climb we reach the top of Bolavene plateau (at an altitude of 1280 m above sea level). However, riding in the early morning makes you warm through the cold morning on the plateau, and you still have more energy in the morning, after a short break in a small town on top of plateau we continue our riding for another 38 km to a small town of Tha Teng (at an altitude of 860 m above sea level), this 38- kilometer decent is one of the best ride in this trip, we have noodle soup for lunch at the local restaurant, 30 km from our destination, Tad Lor Resort (at an altitude of 750 m above sea level) Riding after lunch takes us very easy downhill but on dirt road for 21 km to the junction, the rest of the road just 9 km on asphalt road and it is mainly flat. We check in the hotel in the afternoon and it is your time for swimming at the waterfall, relaxing, enjoying the view or riding around. Dinner is at the hotel.

Day 26 : Tad Lor – Pakse – Champasak ( B , L , D )

After breakfast, we head towards Pakse. This road undulates and has a couple of lengthy climb in it one of 5 km one of 49 km, but they are quite gradual, before we turn right and head downhill all the way into Pakse. The last 20 km in to Pakse is downhill and can be covered quickly, be careful as we head into town as the traffic increases significantly. ,After lunch in town we cycle cross over the bridge to the right side or Thai side (but it is Lao territory ) we keep riding on flat road to the former southern kingdom of the land of million elephants, the present town of Champasak consist of a small settlement on the Thai side of the Mekong River, whose main interest of the visitors is its proximity to the famous Khmer site of Wat Phou, a name which indicates a connection with the ancient Cham kingdom, contemporaneous with the early Khmer empire.

Day 27 : Champasack – Khong Island (4000 islands) ( B , L , D )

Si Phan Done in Lao means 4000 islands; it is the widest and most charismatic part of the Mekong River and is our destination today. We leave as early as we can after breakfast, after 2 km of riding from the hotel, we cross the Mekong River on a very unusual mode of transport to the other side and after short ride to the main road and then start heading south again towards Cambodia. Today is mainly flat with quiet road and some interesting scenery, we pass many villages with children standing in groups waving their hands and say hello, it would be strange for them to see the tourists travel by bicycles (it feels hard for them).so we stop every 20 or 25 km for refreshments and we have lunch under the tree by the road when we feel like it. We then cross back over to the Mekong River to one of the biggest island in the Mekong River, Kong Island (it is the hometown of former Lao president). We cycle a short way to our hotel. Dinner is in the hotel.

Day 28 : Khong island – Khone island ( B , L , D )

Today is a day to explore, we once again cross the river to the main land and head south where we ride as far as on the main road, we turn to the village where we get on long tail boat with all bikes, luggage and our stuff so we leave our support van at the village, we take a short boat trip to the small island of Don Det where we will have lunch. After lunch we ride along the old French Railway down to the beach where we get on small boats to Cambodian waters in search of fresh water Dolphins, After an hour we ride back to hotel at Don Khone island.,Distance: 30 km (Haft riding is on good quality asphalt road and the rest is on the path but it is fantastic ride and flat)

Day 29 : Donkhone Island – Cross Border to Cambodia -Stung Treng (80km) ( B , L , D )

After breakfast boat ride from hotel to the main land, we start cycle from the village to the main road and head south to the border, on the way stop at Khonphapheng waterfall, the biggest waterfall on the Mekong River after short visit the waterfall we cycle the rest to the border where you say good bye to Lao guide and driver, after immigration formalities in Laos we take short drive to Cambodian immigration where you meet Cambodian guide and driver to start your trip to Cambodia.

Day 30 : Stung Treng – Irrawady Dolphin – Kratie (75km( B , L , D )

Breakfast in Stung Treng. Cycle along the Mekong River on dirt road for 30km. We transfer on the National Road as we cannot avoid this part. Cycle the last 45km on the back road along the Mekong River. The road is sealed but small with less traffic than the National road. It is also interesting to see the villages and scenery along the Mekong. We stop halfway to take the boat trip at Prek Kampi to spot for endangered fresh water Irraway Dolphin. If you miss the chance to see the Dolphin at 4 Thousand Islands, you will be able to see at Prek Kampi for sure. After the boat trip, cycle the last 23km to Kratie. Dinner and overnight in Kratie.

Day 31: Kratie – Mondulkiri (Northern Hill Tribes Territory) (80km)( B , L,D )

After breakfast, we transfer about 2 hours via Snoul to Keo Sima. Along the road, we can see some of the rubber plantation initiated by the French. Then we start cycling with some uphills. The scenery after lunch is the best in Cambodia for cycling. We can view the pine forest and endless hill with green grass. We arrive in Mondulkiri and check in the hotel. Late afternoon, we cycle around the town and go up hills about 300 meter altitude high to view the sunset on top of the hill at the Sea-Forest to see how amazing the nature is. Dinner and overnight in Mondulkiri.

Day 32 : Sen Monorom – Bou Sra Water Fall (Cycling 77km) ( B ,L ,D )

Breakfast in Sen Monorom. Fill in the water, start cycling out off Sen Monorom. Soon, we get to the dirt road passing the coffee plantation. We stop to have a quick visit at the plantation. Then continue on some of the sealed and dirt road through the jungle. Stop and relax to enjoy the truly nature. Then go to Bou Sra waterfall. Enjoy the lunch nearby the water fall. Enjoy swimming at the water fall and take some photos with Phnong minority clothes. Afternoon, return back to Sen Monorom for dinner and overnight.

Day 33 : Sen Monorom – Elephant Valley – Danrey Choun Walk 5km ( B ,L,D)

Breakfast in Sen Monorom. Then we cycle 10km to Elephant Valley. This is a rescue center to protect the elephants from trafficking. You have a chance of full day volunteer to work in this Elephant Valley to take care of the elephants. The staff at the project will guide you how to do the job. Lunch at the valley. Dinner and overnight in Sen Monorom.

Day 34 : Mondulkiri-Chlong-Kampong Cham (85km) ( B ,L,D)

Breakfast at the hotel. We transfer to Chlong. Then start cycling along Mekong River. This back road is nice for cycling to see close to real life experience of the local people who earn their living along the Mekong River. Most of them earn their living by farming and fishing. We cycle pass a few Muslim community. Then we cross the Mekong River by ferry at Stung Trong. Continue to cycle another 33km on some dirt road and sealed road to Kampong Cham. Dinner and overnight in Kampong Cham.

Day 35 : Kampong Cham – Phnom Penh – ( 40 km )( B ,L )

Breakfast at the hotel.Cycling and transfer by van to Phnom Penh for check in hotel , and dinner explore by yourself – Overnight in Phnom Penh City

Day 36 :Cycle to Oudong 55km ( B , L , D)

Transfer to Kampong Chanang,8:00 Am Pick up from your hotel lobby and head straight out from Phnom Penh into the stunning landscapes of rice and coconut trees as we make our way to Oudong Mountain via Phnom Basset. We stop to enjoy fresh watermelon along the way as well as a range of other tasty local snacks. As the day wears on, we see a hill suddenly jut out of completely flat countryside and this is Oudong, a great place for a meal and a great place for a view of the plains. After lunch we take a drive up to Kampong Chanang, the home of Cambodian ceramic pottery and genuine floating villages.O/N in Kampong Chanang .

Day 37 :Cycle Kampong Chanang & Battambang 40km

We start the day with a pedal around Kampong Chanang to see what village life in this area means. We’ll see the pottery villages from which, terracotta pots of all sizes are distributed throughout Cambodia. We visit an abandoned airfield from the Khmer Rouge times and we might even try out hand at some farm work, time permitting. We then take a drive to Battambang, a rural centre and home to some interesting french architecture. We take an afternoon ride to see some of these buildings and then take a ride on the famous Bamboo Train.O/N in Battambang .

Day 38 :Cycle Battambang – Siem Reap – 30km

Transfer to Siem Reap,As we wake on our third day, you will be wishing it not to end, but there is still time to learn about the village industries of Battambang. For this we meet up with a local university student who will show us around the villages just outside Battambang. The ride is on a lovely route along the river with lots of shade. We stop to see rice paper making, banana drying, rice wine and prakok production, as well as a stop at the best snack stop in all Cambodia, the kralanh shop. Here we try sticky rice with coconut and beans which is prepared in a bamboo tube. We return to town in the late morning and after lunch make our way to Siem Reap in the support vehicle. The tour concludes with a drop-off at Siem Reap hotel

Day 39 :Siem Reap – Tonle Sap Lake

Our guide brief you the biking loop at the hotel’s lobby and afterward start cycling to Me Chrey floating village through the rice paddies and Khmer traditional houses where are located 20km from town. On arrival at the pier, you’ll get a gently kayak through the floating village where you will be welcomed by warming smiles from the humble Cambodian people who live on this fantastic lake. You leisurely enjoy kayaking until reaching to the end of the village and there you will be welcomed by our local host, a local lunch in a beautiful setting is ready for you. After a decent lunch, you’ll be taken for a soft adventure kayaking to the exotic mangroves in high water season (September – March) yet during low water season (April – August) you will kayak along the Tonle Sap Lake seeing rare birds in this tranquil setting giving you a once in a lifetime experience leaving you with ever lasting memories before transferring back by boat to the pier and again you will optionally cycle back to Siem Reap town.

Day 40 : Siem Reap – Angkor Temples

Today, a bit early breakfast at hotel around 6:00am and then you will leave for the cycling tour to the temples of Angkor around 6.30am. You start riding from the hotel to the temple ticket office and then off the road through the jungle to Phnom Bakheng mountain where the first visit of Angkor Wat temple. It will take 1 hour to visit the Amazing temple which is the biggest religious building in the world and continue to ride to Banteay Kdei and Ta Prohm temples. Lunch at local restaurant and after lunch we visit to Preah Khan and Bayon temple in Angkor Thom City . Free afternoon in Siem Reap .
