You will transition from the bustling Thai central plains up to the hilly, culturally rich rural landscapes of Isan, crossing the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge into Luang Prabang, cross-border cycling itinerary takes you from the bustling streets of Bangkok through the heart of Northeastern Thailand (Isan) and finishes in Vientiane, the laid-back capital of Laos.The route balances scenic backcountry paved roads, historical exploration, and manageable daily distances averaging 60–85 km per day, leaving plenty of time for rest and sightseeing. A 14-day cycle from Bangkok to Luang Prabang is an epic 1,000+ kilometer route. To avoid Bangkok’s chaotic traffic, take a shuttle to Ayutthaya to begin riding. 8:30 AM pick up at your hotel and Transfer by van out of the chaotic traffic to Ayutthaya. Cycle around the ancient ruins and temples of the Ayutthaya Historical Park.

Ride on flat, quiet rural roads passing local villages and vibrant sunflower fields. Arrive in Lopburi, famous for its wild macaque monkeys roaming the Khmer ruins.
Distance: ~ 90 km
A flat but longer riding day tracing the Nan River. Stop by local markets and finish in Phitsanulok, a major historical city.

Ride on quiet backroads to the ancient Kingdom of Sukhothai. Spend the afternoon exploring the UNESCO-listed Sukhothai Historical Park by bike.

The terrain begins to change from flat plains to rolling hills. You will cycle along scenic, tree-lined roads into the teak-wood city of Phrae.

A challenging but rewarding day of climbing. You will ride through lush, mountainous landscapes before descending to Kwan Phayao (Phayao Lake) for sunset.

Cycle through rolling hills and agricultural valleys. Arrive in Chiang Rai to visit the spectacular Wat Rong Khun (White Temple).
Distance: ~ 115 km
A long, rewarding ride toward the Mekong River. You will pass through exotic landscapes and rubber tree plantations before arriving at the border town of Chiang Khong.
Cross the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge into Laos. Spend the day sorting visas and relaxing in the border town of Houayxay.

Give your legs a break. Board a traditional Mekong slow boat to cruise down the river to the remote village of Pakbeng.

Return to the saddle for challenging climbs. You will ride deep into the Laotian mountains, passing through remote Hmong and Khmu hill-tribe villages.

A stunning but demanding ride on winding roads over mountain passes, taking you past limestone karst landscapes.

A shorter ride to recover your energy. Follow the Nam Ou River, framed by towering limestone mountains, to the peaceful village of Nong Khiaw. [

Your final riding day. Ride out of the mountains, passing the iconic Pak Ou Caves. You will finish with a beautiful, flat coastal ride into the UNESCO World Heritage town of Luang Prabang.
