Day 1 : Bangkok Arrival (D )
Arrived in Bangkok, one of the largest and most moving cities in Asia, you will be surprised how advanced this city is, which hosts 20 million people in an area of 600 square kilometers. The bustling metropolis, which is awake 24 hours a day, can undoubtedly be described as one of the most interesting in the world.,We offers you two options: Either you head straight to your hotel, The Mode Sathorn, and relax there on arrival, or you can join a city tour accompanied by an experienced Thai guide a series of sights. Bangkok is one of the safest and friendliest capitals in the world. She is definitely worth getting acquainted.
Day 2 : Bangkok – Khai Yai ( B , L , D ) – Biking 60 km
In the morning, meet your guides and the support staff who will accompany you on your cycling experience to Chiang Rai. Since your safety is very important to us, we do not try to get out on the bike from Bangkok. Instead, we will take you by minibus to the provincial town of Saburi Muak Lek, which is two hours away. Here then begins the real bike ride. After lunch, we will prepare you for your first trip, giving you safety instructions and important advice to keep in mind in the coming days. We will have a leisurely trip around the Khao Yai National Park at around 1pm, which will give you a first glimpse of Thailand’s beauty and peacefulness. You will pass vineyards, tobacco fields and orchards and enjoy the view of the National Park and the mountains all around. The hotel in which you are staying is situated on a hill, which allows a magnificent view .,The short distance is flat and meant to warm up, so to speak.
Day 3 : Khai Yai – Chai Badan ( B , L , D ) – Biking 70 km
Only the first 30 kilometers are a bit hilly, the last part is consistently flat. The track is lined on the left and right with many rice, sugarcane, vegetable and fruit fields. On a section of no less than 60 kilometers, the second part passes by the Pasak-Chonlasit Reservoir, where the break for lunch is also taken. Another highlight awaits you when you arrive at the hotel, which is located on a small lake: a huge, visible from afar Buddha statue on the mountain. Day 4 : Chai Badan – Petchabun ( B , L , D ) – Biking 70 km
Of the total of 170 kilometers, only the first 112 are covered by bicycle. The rest is done by minibus. A highlight on this stage is a visit to a very old farming village, where the houses are built entirely of wood. The streets are almost completely free of traffic. A short section of four kilometers leads over a gravel road. Lunch is taken before the final transfer to the hotel (one hour).,The track is consistently flat.
Day 5 : Petchabun – Khao Kho ( B , L , D ) – Biking 70km
On the first mountain stage, it goes after 20 km on a section of also 20 km up to 17 percent steeply uphill. The hardships are rewarded with the view of a magnificent mountain landscape. Another highlight is a stopover in one of the famous coffee shops. The huge strawberry fields next to the vegetable, rice and tobacco fields, which can be found almost everywhere, are also very impressive. Immediately after arriving at the hotel, a visit to the Great Temple of Khao Kho is on the program.,The route profile is relatively demanding.
Day 6 : Khao Kho – Sirikit Dam ( B , L , D ) – Biking 50 km
In the morning, the first stop of the stage takes about two hours by minibus. After lunch, a visit to a small steel museum is scheduled after ten kilometers. The path leads on a flat course through a mountain landscape, past the Queen Sirikit Reservoir and cornfields to the hotel on the Nan River, about four kilometers from the reservoir.,The short stage is very shallow and rather intended for relaxing before the next day.
Day 7 : Sirikit Dam – Na Man ( B , L , D ) – Biking 75 km
The start to this difficult, but also very nice stage takes place directly at the hotel. To deal with are many short demanding climbs. For the most part these lead over a ridge, which is why left and right beautiful views open up. Another highlight is a river crossing by ferry at the fishing village of Paknai, where lunch is also served. Then it is still 45 kilometers to stop in a small guesthouse, where the dinner is taken in the circle of the family.,On the second stage of the mountain, many challenging but short climbs are to be conquered.
Day 8 : Na Man – Nan ( B , L , D ) – Biking 70 km
On the way to the provincial capital of Nan, you will pass numerous small rice fields, cornfields and orchards on small local roads. The program also includes a visit to the temple of Wat Phumin in Nan, where magnificent murals can be admired.,The Stages profile is consistently flat.
Day 9 : Nan – Phayao ( B , L , D ) – Biking 70 km
The third mountain stage is the longest and toughest. It leads through a beautiful mountain landscape, with gradients of up to 15 percent to complete. On the way, small farming villages with very old Thai houses are passed by. At the end of the virtually traffic-free route lies the semi-natural lake Phayao with its water in drinking quality. The small town of Phayao is very lively, especially in the evening. A beautiful promenade and many restaurants and bars await visitors.,Of the three mountain stages this is the most demanding
Day 10 : Phayao – Chiang Rai ( B , L , D ) – Biking 70 km
At the end of the ten-day tour, it will once again be very flat at around one hundred kilometers. On the way again, especially many rice fields are to be seen. After visiting the White Temple in Chiang Rai, the transfer to the hotel takes place .,Like the second stage, the last section is particularly flat.
Day 11: Chiang Mai to Mae Taeng. About 65 km, with 10 km gentle uphill ( B , L , D )
After leaving Chiang Mai you will cycle through beautiful ever changing scenery, with orchards, paddy fields, irrigation canals and small villages. You will enjoy the countryside as only a cyclist can see. The overnight stop is at a beautiful resort on the banks of the river Ping with a swimming pool. Thai massages are available.
Day 12 : Mae Taeng to Chiang Dao and back to Mae Taeng. About 56 km. (B , L , D)
Early in the morning, you can visit the nearby Chiang Dao elephant training center and observe these beautiful animals bathing. This morning ritual is followed by a demonstration of the work they used to do in the forest. Your cycling trip continues towards Chiang Dao where you can visit the Chiang Dao Caves, a nearby monastery may be worth a visit as well. After these visits you cycle back to your resort where you spend another night.
Day 13 : Mae Taeng to Baan Rai – Mae Sa Valley – Biking 70 km (B , L , D)
Along today’s cycling route you will have the chance to visit a fancy temple rarely visited by foreigners. The third night you stay at a small but superb resort in the middle of nowhere; it has a nice swimming pool with a stunning view. After lunch very good country roads and very nice, ever changing scenery. The last part is a serious climb of which the first two km are the steepest. If you wish you can visit the Mae Sa waterfalls on the way up. After check in you can visit the nearby Queen Sirikit botanical garden or enjoy the view at the swimming pool, your rooms are nestled on a hillside overlooking the nice garden and part of the valley. Different massages are available.
Day 14 : Mae Sa Valley to Doi Saket – Baan Pong – Biking 70 km. (B , L , D)
The first 6 km are now downhill, so take it easy. There are plenty of different things to see and to visit during the next 5 km, if this is your cup of tea. An orchid farm may be worth a visit especially early morning when there are no tour groups. Once you leave the Mae Rim area you are back in the Thai countryside again. While cycling along an irrigation canal, you will have the chance to observe Thai farming life. You pass a Chinese cemetery and glimpse tantalizing views of a temple on top of a hill. You can visit this beautiful temple, which is also an important social centre and school for the area. You may visit the nearby local market before you continue to cycle through small villages and paddy fields.
Day 15 : Baan Pong to Saraphi – San Patong – Biking – 70 km mainly flat. (B , L , D)
After a short warm up the next few kilometres are up hill, then the country flattens out and you are back into an area of paddy fields and local villages. The scenery of today is completely different again. You pass a large standing Buddha protruding from the flat countryside. Afterwards you will continue to cycle along canals and through small villages ,you will have time to visit some other interesting places as well. Our route description avoids the traffic to cross Lamphun and the cycling continues on quiet back roads. The last part is through a village where time has stood still. On either side you will discover chedis and ruins, some of which are over seven centuries old.
Day 16 : San Patong to Chiang Mai via Baan Tawai. About 50 km flat. (B , L , D )
The first part of today you will ride through mainly longan orchards. Families in this area make sa paper using traditional methods. Via nice routes you cycle to Ban Tawai, a small village famous for wood carving artisans. You have enough time to look around the various stalls. If you want good quality souvenirs for a very good price, this is the place to be. (It’s your last cycling day anyway). Soon after leaving Ban Tawai you will join the Ping River that will lead you back to Chiang Mai again.
Day 17: Chieng Mai – Home ( B )
Today the tour ends. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
